The Role of UV in Curing Screen Printing Ink

dtfg (1)

1.Principle

UV-curable ink contains a photoinitiator. After absorbing UV LED light (usually UVA LED with a wavelength range of 320 - 400nm), the photoinitiator generates free radicals or cations, which initiates the polymerization of monomers and oligomers in the ink, instantly transforming the ink from a liquid state to a solid state.

2.Customization process

Ink selection: Select UV-curable ink based on printing materials and product uses, considering adhesion to materials, safety, and ink viscosity, color, glossiness, etc.

UV LED light source selection and configuration: Select a light source with appropriate wavelength and intensity (such as mercury lamps, metal halide lamps, UV LED lamps) according to the ink's absorption spectrum, and determine the power and quantity according to printing speed and area.

Determination of curing parameters: Determine the irradiation time, intensity, and distance of UV LED light through experiments to ensure the curing effect of ink and the quality of printed products.

3.Application scenarios

High-end packaging printing: For packaging such as cosmetics and high-end alcoholic beverages, it achieves high-gloss and high-definition printing. The ink film is wear-resistant and enhances the grade.

Electronic device printing: In the printing of circuit boards and casings, the ink cures quickly and can withstand heat and chemical erosion during the use of electronic devices, preventing scratches.

Advertising and signage printing: For outdoor billboards and indoor signage, UV-curable ink can resist natural erosion and pollution and maintain vivid and clear colors for a long time.
